6 ways to make homework sessions productive

 

Whether one is in school or college, merely the thought about pending homework can be unsettling.  And actually finishing homework can be pretty tough. However, homework should never become a nightmare for the student.

Arrange the tools created with the homework assignment in order of their date or topic to make it easy to review them while preparing for quizzes, tests or projects.

5. Create a support system & avoid multi-tasking

If that option isn’t available, turn your phone on silent mode so that the constant stream of beeps and alerts don’t distract you. If you are using a computer, never keep multiple tabs open while doing your homework.

6. Take regular breaks

   

Sitting in front of your desk for the whole day till you have completed all your assignments may look like the best way of getting more done in less time, but can be counter-productive. In fact, enjoying small breaks at regular intervals increases productivity and helps the student focus better.

Therefore, instead of having a single six hour long session, break it up into smaller sessions of 50-60 minutes each interspersed with breaks that are 5-10 minutes long. It is a great idea to use a stopwatch or alarm to remind the student to take a break and to resume studying again.

Towards, the end of the day, it is equally important to reward yourself for a task well achieved. The student can indulge in fun, relaxing activity of his choice if he has managed to achieve the day’s goals.
