6 ways to make homework sessions productive

Whether one is in school or college, merely the thought about pending homework can be unsettling.  And actually finishing homework can be pretty tough. However, homework should never become a nightmare for the student.

As a member of the statistics homework help team at Help In Homework and somebody with first-hand experience, I’ve completed homework for scores of students since 2008. The following are the six ways our homework help team at Help In Homework believes homework can be managed better so that it becomes interesting rather than a chore, regardless of whether you are in primary school, high school or in college.

  1. Mark your priorities

As a professional homework help, who has assisted scores of students with finishing their assignments, I believe one must list the tasks in order of priority based on the syllabus or type of homework. Making this priority list will motivate you to handle difficult tasks.

The priority list will enable a student to set goals which can be crossed out as the tasks get completed.

  1. Start with difficult tasks

Begin with the most difficult tasks on hand because you are at the peak of your energy levels and your mind is fresh and can be made to focus easily at the start of a work session. Easy assignments that are less time consuming can be tackled in the later part of your session or at the fag end.

  1. Break up a task into smaller bits

From having provided physics homework help to many students till now, not knowing where to start a major task is what can de-motivate or make the student feel defeated.  To prevent this, break up the task into three or four smaller steps. This way the student will derive a sense of accomplishment on completing each step and will be able to stay motivated throughout the completion of the task as a whole.

  1. Create evidence of learning

I know from personal experience of providing homework help that a student will be able to achieve more during the time spent in reviewing, reading or studying if he/she creates something during this process.

For instance, the student could create flash cards, a graphic organizer chart or notes with bullet points to become an active rather than a passive learner. Arrange the tools created with the homework assignment in order of their date or topic to make it easy to review them while preparing for quizzes, tests or projects.

  1. Create a support system & avoid multi-tasking

In case the student gets stuck somewhere and is not able to solve some homework problems, put down on paper the questions he may have pertaining to them. You can seek answers to those questions from your teacher or from professional homework help providers like us.

The quicker you are able to point out the reason for your confusion, the more confident you will feel about approaching your support system – be they teachers, tutors  - for additional help.

We provide accounting homework help to students but firmly believe multitasking can never achieve much in lesser time. A lot of research has been done on multi-tasking and it has been made amply clear that handling multiple tasks at the same time can be distracting and makes one less productive.

The secret to making homework sessions more productive is to focus on one task at a time. Never watch TV, eat, text your friends or check social media while you are doing homework. In case one uses the Internet for homework, it is advisable to have a separate device in place for accessing e-learning tools.

If that option isn’t available, turn your phone on silent mode so that the constant stream of beeps and alerts don’t distract you. If you are using a computer, never keep multiple tabs open while doing your homework.

  1. Take regular breaks

Sitting in front of your desk for the whole day till you have completed all your assignments may look like the best way of getting more done in less time, but can be counter-productive. In fact, enjoying small breaks at regular intervals increases productivity and helps the student focus better.

Therefore, instead of having a single six hour long session, break it up into smaller sessions of 50-60 minutes each interspersed with breaks that are 5-10 minutes long. It is a great idea to use a stopwatch or alarm to remind the student to take a break and to resume studying again.

Towards, the end of the day, it is equally important to reward yourself for a task well achieved. The student can indulge in fun, relaxing activity of his choice if he has managed to achieve the day’s goals. Our homework help team believes such an approach of taking regular breaks and rewards for achievement will keep the student motivated to make a fresh start the next day.

  1. Nursing is a field of study where students have to devote much time to acquiring both theoretical and practical knowledge to have in-depth expertise. They involve in many nursing activities with professional nurses to learn various skill sets during their courses. The assignments on nursing topics require real-life experience to ace these, but it is obvious that the students lack this quality. As a result, they find themselves unable to make it independently. Therefore, the nursing assignment writing service by online educational brands acts as a boon for students.
